China evacuates 400,000 ahead of super typhoon Yagi China has evacuated approximately 400,000 people ahead of Super Typhoon Yagi, which is expected to make landfall on the tourist island of Hainan later today. The storm, one of the most powerful of the year, has led to the suspension of trains, boats, and flights in the region for a second day, with schools also closed in parts of southern China. Yagi, which intensified after causing destruction in the northern Philippines earlier this week, now has winds reaching 240 km/h (150 mph) near its eye. Father of suspect in Georgia school shooting arrested Colin Gray, 54, has been arrested following a school shooting in Winder, Georgia, where his 14-year-old son, Colt Gray, is accused of killing four people at Apalachee High School. Colin Gray faces serious charges including four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children. Hunter Biden pleads guilty in tax case Hunter Biden has unexpectedly pleaded guilty to all nine federal tax evasion charges against him, just as his trial was about to begin. At least 17 pupils have died in a fire at Hillside Endarasha Primary School in Nyeri County, central Kenya, according to police. The blaze, which broke out Thursday night, has also left over a dozen students hospitalised with severe burns.  The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a team of investigators has been dispatched to the scene, police spokesperson Resila Onyango reported. 7-Eleven owner rejects $38bn buyout offer The Japanese parent company of 7-Eleven, Seven & i Holdings, has turned down a $38 billion takeover offer from Canadian firm Alimentation Couche-Tard (ACT). Seven & i Holdings criticised the bid, saying it “grossly” undervalued the company and faced significant regulatory hurdles.
