Ashley Cain has hit back at claims from his ex Safiyya Vorajee that he asked her for another child after the death of their daughter Azaylia before ‘abruptly’ ending their relationship.
The former footballer pointed out that ‘recollections vary’ as Safiyya responded to Ashley’s recent news that he’s set to become a dad again.
In 2020, former footballer Ashley welcomed his baby girl Azaylia with Safiyya however she tragically died in her parents’ arms in April 2021 when she was eight months old.
Azaylia had been diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia just eight weeks after her birth.
Responding to Safiyya’s remarks, Ashley said: ‘Safiyya and I have shared an intense emotional journey together since losing Azaylia.

‘When there are intense emotions involved, be that from loss, breakups or my recent baby announcement, recollection of events may vary.
‘What has never varied is our mutual commitment to our daughter’s foundation, which has never been stronger. So I will continue saying less and doing more.’
Ashley, 33, confirmed this month he is set to become a dad again two years after his daughter’s death.
Last week, Safiyya broke her silence on Ashley’s recent news and shared her side of their breakup story.
Speaking to the Sun about the news, Safiyya said Ashley – who also appeared on TV shows Ex On The Beach and The Challenge – was ‘quick and brutal’ when he dumped her.

She also said that one time when they were together at Azaylia’s remembrance garden, he ‘suggested a second baby’.
‘I didn’t want a baby to think they’d been born because I wanted Azaylia. I wanted to fill a void. It had to be as a proper family,’ Safiyya shared.
As for Ashley telling her the news that he’s going to be a dad again, Safiyya added: ‘The heartbreaking thing about it [is] even when he told me, I put him first so he didn’t feel guilty for telling me. Inside I was screaming and crying.’

Safiyya’s interview prompted an Instagrammer named Mia to write beneath one of Ashley’s recent Instagram photos: ‘I love you Ashely and respect what you do immensely but to ask Saffiya to have a baby knowing you’re sleeping with someone else that was low.’
Responding to the claims, Ashley said ‘recollections may vary’.
Days earlier, Ashley revealed he had visited his late daughter’s grave to tell her he was going to be a dad again.

Of the moment, he told the Sun: ‘I believe [visiting Azaylia] was a huge part that has allowed me to feel positive about it. I feel like she was the main person that I needed to speak to and to get this thing off my chest.
‘After going to her resting place and speaking to her about it, I just had a feeling in my heart and in my soul that she was happy for me.’
