Trasnfer Gosssip – Matthijs de Ligt has already won the Eredivisie, Serie A and Bundesliga

Arsenal view Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck as long-term transfer targets, according to the latest reports and insights from football agents in Germany and England.

While the Gunners do not think a deal in the January window is possible – they are very keen on the Bundesliga duo – and hope to sign one of them in the future.

De Ligt made a name for himself at Ajax, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the world, before earning a €75m move to Juventus in 2019.

The 24-year-old, capped 43 times for the Netherlands, joined German champions Bayern in 2022, making 54 appearances to date and is under contract until 2027.

De Ligt has already won the Eredivisie, Serie A and Bundesliga with Arsenal hoping he will want to add a Premier League title to his trophy cabinet.

The north Londoners currently see a deal for De Ligt as ‘infeasible’ due to the price he would cost and his contract situation – but he remains on the club’s list as a long-term defensive target, according to The Athletic.

The same is true for fellow centre-back Schlotterbeck, who has impressed for German side Dortmund.

The 24-year-old Germany international moved to Dortmund from fellow Bundesliga club SC Freiburg in 2022 and he is also under contract until 2027.

Schlotterbeck has been named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for the last two campaigns in a row.

Arsenal are also interested in Ajax’s 17-year-old defender Jorrel Hato, who could be a target for the upcoming January transfer window.

The Gunners are determined to ad dto their squad and eying up two defenders.
