Amar Dedic looks set for a huge move in 2024
Amar Dedic has caught the eye of a string of Europe’s biggest clubs thanks to his performances for RB Salzburg and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle among the interested parties.
The 21-year-old gained experience on loan at Liefering and Wolfsberger AC before breaking into the Salzburg first team last season and quickly rising to prominence from there.
The youngster started all six group stage games in Salzburg’s Champions League campaign, having gained experience in both the Champions and Europa League last season as well.
The Sun reports that there is a long line of suitors for the right-back, who has already scored five goals this season from defence.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle lead the interest from the Premier League, although that is not where the competition ends as Barcelona, Inter Milan and Roma are also keen.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma made a bid of over £21m for Dedic last summer which was rejected, but it seems very likely he will move to a big club at some point in 2024.
While firstly a right-back, the 21-year-old can operate across the back four, which will be part of his appeal to the range of suitors.
He only signed his latest contract in January, keeping him at Salzburg until 2027, but bids will come in for him next summer, and likely next month.
Asked about a potential January move to Roma last month, Dedic said: ‘I know absolutely nothing about Roma’s interest. But Serie A is very interesting and high-level league for a young player like me.
‘But my concentration is entirely on Salzburg at the moment: tomorrow’s match is the most important thing right now.’
