Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United could make a shock move for Callum Wilson after Newcastle United reportedly put the striker up for sale.
It has been rumored that Newcastle are considering selling off one of their star players this January to ensure that they do not breach the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
Since being bought by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in 2021, the Magpies have spent around £400million on transfers.
Miguel Almiron has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League but he is reluctant to leave, while Kieran Trippier is wanted by Bayern Munich but Newcastle have rejected several bids for the right-back whom they value at £20m.
Wilson looks to be the most likely candidate to be sold therefore, and was recently linked with a move to Atletico Madrid but the England international isn’t sold on the idea.
The Evening Standard now report that Newcastle are willing to offload the 31-year-old for just £18m – which could well entice the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and United.
The three clubs are on the hunt for a new centre-forward but have limited spending power this transfer window, so a cut-price deal for an experienced Premier League goal-scorer may prove appealing.

Wilson has scored 86 goals in 215 top-flight appearances for Newcastle and Bournemouth, as well as two in nine caps for England and he was a part ofGareth Southgate’s squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Arsenal and Chelsea would more likely be interested in his services than United with Sir Jim Ratcliffe attempting to move the club away from signing older, short-term solutions.

The Red Devils have already dropped out of the race to sign Karim Benzema for this reason, so even with Anthony Martial injured, it seems improbable that they’d move for Wilson if the Ballon d’Or winner is viewed as a bad investment.
The Gunners and the Blues have been closely linked with making a move for either Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen in the summer, so it remains to be seen whether they’ll bother with an emergency signing like Wilson if they know a big-money striker is on the way.
