Ariana Grande is back with her new song yes, and? but some fans are not feeling it as the drama around her new relationship continues to fester.
The One Last Time singer is haemorrhaging followers on her Instagram account after alluding to her relationship with Wicked co-star Ethan Slater in the new track.
Dubbed ‘Spongebob’ by her fans due to his previous role on Broadway, the relationship has proved to be a sore point between Ariana and her usually dedicated fanbase.
In her first song in four years, the 30-year-old sings: ‘ Your business is yours and mine is mine/ Why do you care so much whose d**k I ride?’
On the surface, this is a fair question for anyone who is trying to keep their relationship private, however, Ethan and Ariana’s relationship launch was not an easy one.
The couple has been marred with controversy since they started dating due to blurry timelines around Ethan’s split from estranged wife Lilly and the Grammy winner’s divorce from her husband, Dalton Gomez, shortly before.

Ariana’s follower account is still mighty on Instagram with 380 million followers – but this is actually over 400 thousand down from before Christmas.
Over this past month, according to SocialBlade, the Popular singer has lost a net of 404,880 followers with an average of 13k unfollowing her every day.
On the day of yes, and? being released she did gain 11,322 followers but this could not make up for the whopping 290,015 that jumped ship the day before.
The wave of disdain doesn’t stop there as fans are not just unfollowing quietly but openly criticising her on social media for bragging about the situation.
TikToker Brittany Hugoboom explained: ‘She’s trying to have a Taylor Swift reputation kind of vibe, where people don’t understand her. But everyone’s like being and promoting being a homewrecker is so ugly and not the serve y’all think it is.’
Meanwhile, former fan Eva wrote on X: ‘I used to be a huge Ariana Grande fan until all this recent drama. I think it shows such bad character to date a man who is willing to leave his wife and newborn daughter.
‘Then makes a song boasting about it? Idc if they were broken up before, I don’t think it matters. That child is the victim in all of this.’
After clarification from Page Six that both were single at the time the relationship began, fan Emily Kate tweeted: ‘Hey, I’m glad Ariana isn’t technically a homewrecker, but the timeline is still so blurred imo. It just feels icky to me.’
While many are defending Ariana, and placing any blame for messiness at the feet of Ethan, others still feel her behaviour after the scandal is insensitive and ‘loser’ behaviour.
Swiftie stan account Suburbantaygend shared: ‘Y’all know damn well if your spouse filed for divorce and immediately began dating their coworker after being off in a different country with them for months you wouldn’t just be like “oh well womp womp divorce happen sometimes” like have some damn empathy my GOD.

Despite the drama, the song seems to be a hit, boasting over 38 million streams on Spotify and over 70 million for the music video on YouTube.
Ariana and Ethan’s relationship came into the public eye in July – where there is a steep drop off in followers – months after she had been at Wimbledon without a wedding ring.
Speculation and cheating allegations began swirling around the pair, who insist they were both single at the time they got together.

Page Six added fuel to the fire with an interview with Lilly in which she said: ‘[She’s] not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.’
It then clarified a source said to be close to the situation told said the couple had been broken up for two months before the divorce filing in July.
However, an insider speaking to MailOnline said: ‘For her to take the opportunity in her first song since all of this went down to show a complete lack of remorse for her actions is utterly disrespectful.
‘Ariana is dating a man who is still married. She is flaunting her relationship with a married man – a married man who has a one-year-old child at home with his still wife.
‘Yes, Ariana has destroyed a home and she does not seem to care.’
