Ariana Grande has been tipped to meet Prince Edward ahead of her upcoming visit to London.

The 29-year-old pop singer joined the cast of the blockbuster film Wicked and is set to tour the musical’s set alongside the youngest brother of King Charles.

News of her potential royal appointment came amid efforts by the palace to secure A-list artists to perform at the coronation on May 6.

‘Edward’s visit has been kept under wraps,’ an insider informed The Sun.

They continued: ‘He’d been invited as a guest of honour, and now he is going to actually meet some of the stars, including Ariana.’

The publication also reported sources close to the hit maker concluded she probably wouldn’t join the big day’s line-up.

Following years of rumours, it was finally confirmed the smash hit musical would be transformed and adapted for the big screen in a two-part movie extravaganza.

An announcement was made via the social media of the film’s director Jon M. Chu – who also worked on Crazy Rich Asians – on May 10 last year.

He wrote: ‘As we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of WICKED into a single film without doing some real damage to it.

‘As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us for so many years.

‘So we decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one Wicked movie but two!!!!

Get ready for double the magic! [sic]’.

Ariana will play Glinda the good witch in the new flick and she will star alongside Cynthia Erivo who will take on her character’s frenemy Elphaba.

After news of the main roles were confirmed, another casting credit was added to the roster in the form of Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey who will be stepping into the part of the story’s heartthrob Fiyero.

Calls for Ariana to star in the screen adaptation of the show began after she performed a rendition of the score’s The Wizard and I in 2018 in a stunning green dress for Wicked’s 15th anniversary special.

Metro.co.uk contacted Ariana’s reps for comment.
