Argentines strike against spending cuts
A widespread strike against government spending cuts has had a major impact across Argentina. Schools, banks, and numerous shops have shut down as a result.
On Thursday, train and metro services were halted, although there was a limited bus service operating.
Hector Daher, one of the leading figures in the workers’ unions, described the 24-hour strike as a message to President Javier Milei. Daher urged Milei to reconsider some of the reductions in subsidies and social programs.
