Sometimes it’s best just to leave your frustrations at your door. But when your icks are quite literally on your doorstep every day, they can be kind of hard to ignore.
Despite the fact that neighbourly support has been proved to help better our wellbeing – neighbours can also bug us from time to time, and there are certain little things that really get under our skin.
In fact, the biggest pet peeve that Brits have is when a neighbour’s guests take up all the parking spaces, with 65% of those polled saying so.
Maybe just be mindful when you’re throwing your big Coronation bash this May? Tell your guests to park a couple of streets away and bug someone else, plus they can walk off all the coronation quiche on the way back to their cars.
St. Modwen Homes polled their social media followers to find out what the ultimate bees in their bonnets are.

Nearly 20% of people said that their pet peeve was when neighbours don’t maintain their front lawns.
It seems there’s nothing more annoying when you’re trying to maintain your house and keep it looking pretty, only for it to be surrounded by other homes which aren’t nearly as well kept.
But just remember that not everyone has the luxury of time – there are jobs, kids, errands and shopping to contend with, which can make finding the time to mow the lawn next to impossible. Plus, letting your lawn grow is good for the bees!

A tenth of people found nothing more annoying than neighbours having their parcels delivered to their house.
It becomes a constant back and fourth, they knock when you aren’t there, you knock when they aren’t there, and you end up with a carboard box sat by your front door for weeks on end.
Just under 10% of people find it rather gross when their neighbour doesn’t put their bins out. We kind of get this one. After all, you don’t want to step outside on a sunny day only to be greeted with the rotten smell of warm meat and left over pizza.

Jo Winston, sales and marketing director at St. Modwen Homes, says: ‘We all have our dos and don’ts when it comes to having neighbours, but our poll showed that a lot of us share some common pet peeves.
‘Whether it’s unclaimed bins or a street filled with cars that drives us round the bend, we’ve all got something that makes us tick.
‘It’s important to remember that everyone prefers different things.
‘Being mindful of these differences helps us build towards a happier and more positive neighbourhood – whether that’s within a new home development or somewhere you’ve lived for years.’
