The Boys star Antony Starr has teased an eyebrow-raising scene in the Amazon Prime drama’s much anticipated season 4.

The cult series follows a group of corrupt superheroes who abuse their powers, known as The Seven, while The Boys are a team of vigilantes determined to keep their misbehaviour in check.

While season 4’s plot details are being kept under wraps, the stars from the show have been sharing cryptic posts on their way to set and fans have noticed an apparently dead character seemingly back in action.

However, Antony, 47, who plays The Seven’s narcissistic leader The Homeland (John Gillman), have given a hint to viewers about what they can expect – and it sounds like we’ll all need to strap in.

The American Gothic actor revealed he was completely shocked after filming one particular scene, branding it ‘truly the most bizarre thing I’ve ever done.’

He told Variety: ‘I was looking at the person I was opposite and I said: “What are we doing? I can’t believe this! I could have done anything else with my life, but here I am doing this?”

‘It was truly the most bizarre thing I’ve ever done.’

Antony will be joined by the likes of The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the next instalment of the brilliantly bonkers show.

It’s not known what team the Supernatural star will side with (if any), with details about his character being kept strictly under wraps, but he has been brought on board as a returning guest star, according to Deadline.

It has been a long time coming for the 56-year-old, with the actor previously teasing he would join the show back in 2020.

Two years ago showrunner Eric Kripke thanked the actor for supporting The Boys on social media, adding: ‘I’ll make you a deal. Season 3. I’ll write it, and if you’re avail, come shoot it!’

The Boys also stars Jack Quaid, Karl Urban and Erin Moriarty, who has previously spoken about the vile abuse she has received from sexist trolls since starring in the drama.

The Boys is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
