It’s believed that Amouranth’s boxing challenge to another streamer is what has led to her latest ban from Twitch.
There was a period of time where it seemed Twitch personality Amouranth was getting banned from the platform every other month. It got to the point where many were surprised that Twitch kept letting her come back.
Since 2021, though, she’s managed to avoid being hit with the ban hammer so consistently (on Twitch at least). This then invited complaints of double standards, with accusations that Amouranth has been getting away with streaming the sort of content that anyone less popular would get banned for.
It seems she isn’t completely immune from censure though, as Amouranth has just been banned, for the first time in almost two years.
As is usually the case, it’s not clear why this has happened. If you visit her Twitch page, it only displays the typical ‘This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.’
Amouranth has yet to provide a comment on the ban. But before you assume that perhaps she’s finally being kicked off Twitch for good, her previous bans tended to last less than a week. So, it’s entirely possible she’ll be back after the weekend.
The ban comes after Amouranth responsed to fellow streamer Adriana Chechik’s less than flattering comments about her. A week ago, Chechik admitted she has no respect for Amouranth and called her ‘a clout chasing dumbass’ among many other more choice words.
Amouranth didn’t respond to her directly. Instead, she left a comment under a YouTube reaction video to Chechik’s rant by another streamer, xQc, saying ‘I’ll say it here first, I’ll challenge her in the ring. Catch me outside, how about that?’
This is an allusion to how Amouranth is taking up boxing, with her debut match taking place in July. Although any such physical confrontation literally can’t happen since Chechik is still recovering from a back injury she sustained at TwitchCon.
‘How the f*** is this girl so dumb she wants to challenge a woman who recently broke her back to a boxing match?!’ Chechik tweeted. ‘Grow up and be a woman and let’s talk or keep clout chasing. Because at the end of the day all she has is this. That’s why she’s mean to everyone.’
It’s been suggested that Amouranth’s boxing offer was perceived as a physical threat by Twitch and that’s what resulted in her ban.
Twitch’s guidelines say that: ‘Violence on Twitch is taken seriously and is considered a zero-tolerance violation, and all accounts associated with such activities on Twitch will be indefinitely suspended.’
Twitch also takes an individual’s behaviour on other platforms into account as well, which doesn’t help Amouranth.
