The future of Clarkson’s Farm is still unclear after Jeremy Clarkson sparked outrage over a ‘vile’ article about Meghan Markle.
It had been previously claimed the farming show’s home Amazon had severed ties with the former Top Gear host, 63, after he stated he ‘hated’ the Duchess of Sussex on a ‘cellular level’ and dreamed about her being paraded through the streets and shamed.
The opinion column became media watchdog’s most complained about article since records began and was ruled as ‘sexist’ in a groundbreaking decision, casting more doubt on Clarkson’s TV career.
Responding directly to queries about whether more series of Clarkson’s Farm are in the works, Prime UK’s head of originals Dan Grabiner said ‘no decisions’ had been made at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, according to Deadline.
‘It’s a very complex topic but we are not interrupting production of the current season,’ he added.
Dan continued: ‘I can’t tell you what a phenomenon this show is and the impact it’s had on the agricultural community. We get messages from farmers around the world who just love the show, saying they’ve never really seen their world reflected properly on screen before. It’s a hell of a lot bigger than Jeremy Clarkson.’
His colleague head of UK unscripted Fozia Khan said Amazon had been ‘shocked and disappointed’ by the column.
She added: ‘There are lots of discussions going on but the thing that’s important to say is there is so much more going on to the show than Clarkson,.’
More to follow.
