Amanda Abbington’s fiancé Jonathan Goodwin has shared another cryptic post after her reason for quitting Strictly Come Dancing was revealed.
Jonathan, a former finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, 43, indicated there was more ‘below the surface’ on an Instagram Story days after Amanda, 51, said she quit the BBC show for ‘personal reasons.’
The retired escapologist posted a picture of an iceberg and a quote that read: ‘When you see an iceberg you could be forgiven for not realising just how much is below the surface.
‘The same is true of people. Don’t be quick to judge a person or situation if you don’t know what’s below the surface.’
Hours before the Sherlock actress’ departure from Strictly was announced, Jonathan published a similarly cryptic message about being hard on ourselves.
‘We can be so hard on ourselves… be our own worst critics… but before you judge yourself…’ he wrote.

Amanda’s exit from the ballroom dancing show was first announced by the BBC on Monday evening after she skipped performing on Saturday’s live show due to ‘medical reasons’.
A Strictly spokesperson said: ‘Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.’
As she finally addressed the news on Tuesday morning, Amanda expressed ‘deep regret’ over leaving the programme in a statement on Instagram.

Citing ‘personal reasons’, she called the experience of working with her fellow contestants ‘an absolute joy’ and praised the ‘incredible’ production team and ‘everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring’.
However, people were quick to note the Mr Selfridge star made no mention of her dancing partner Giovanni Pernice, 33 – reigniting rumours of a reported ‘feud’ between the pair.
Amanda’s rep later denied any talk of the star ‘snubbing’ Giovanni in her statement addressing her exit from Strictly.
They told Metro.co.uk of Amanda’s Instagram post: ‘She was inclusive of everyone involved in the show who helped make her appearance not only happen but a success.
She loved everybody on the programme and did not want to leave anyone out. She is extremely grateful and wishes she could have continued.
‘Health comes first always,’ they added.

It’s understood that the show will continue as normal despite Amanda’s departure, with another celebrity set to leave the dance floor this coming weekend.
This comes after news Jonathan is suing AGT: Extreme producers after a horror accident left him paralysed when rehearsing for a stunt that would see him hang upside down 30 feet in the air between two suspended cars and escape from a straitjacket.
However, the cars were released too early and he was crushed between them as they caught on fire.

Amanda and Jonathan got engaged after a whirlwind romance in 2021, nine months after she revealed her split from actor Jonjo O’Neill after four years together.
