Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota injury concerns after Liverpool draw at Man City, confirms Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool picked up a 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Saturday but injury concerns for Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota have emerged from the contest.

The Premier League champions dominated the game, as they tend to do, and took the lead through Erling Haaland, but a late Trent Alexander-Arnold strike rescued a point for the Reds.

Few leave the Etihad with anything so it is an impressive result for Jurgen Klopp’s side and it keeps them just one point adrift of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

However, it is not all good news as Klopp confirmed that both Alisson and Jota ‘felt something’ during the clash and their muscle complaints will be assessed in the hours and days to come.

‘The shadow on this game is obviously that Ali felt something and Diogo felt something,’ Klopp told a post-match press conference. ‘Something we have to assess and then we will see.’

On the severity of his goalkeeper’s injury, Klopp added: ‘I hope it’s not that serious, but I don’t have the answer – no clue in the moment what it is.

‘I spoke to him and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan.’

It is a busy schedule ahead for Liverpool, hosting LASK in the Europa League on Thursday before welcoming Fulham to Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday and going to Sheffield United the following Wednesday.

Alexander-Arnold was the hero for the Reds on Saturday and Klopp was delighted that the England star shone in the huge match.

‘Very good,’ the Liverpool manager said of Alexander-Arnold. ‘He played a really good game, super-influential.

‘We changed it, if you want, with the position; we brought him and made it more clear where he has to be in these moments. But he did that really well and had still his moments with [Jeremy] Doku where he was really strong in the one-on-one situations.

‘You could see in a lot of moments how difficult it is against him, he is a really good dribbler. Trent was pretty influential today, in a good way.’
