Adele Roberts became emotional as she was given a very thoughtful gift from her fiancee ahead of the London Marathon.
The Radio 1 DJ was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021, for which she underwent chemotherapy and now lives with a stoma bag.
In June last year, Adele revealed she is now cancer free – and now has her eyes set on breaking a world record by being the fastest person running the London Marathon with a stoma bag.
Adele has nicknamed her stoma Audrey, and regularly personifies it, previously revealing how her stoma has a mini version of her marathon number sign, and jokingly referring to herself as Audrey’s ‘parent’.
Now Audrey has been given another little something to help boost Adele ahead of the marathon.
Taking to Instagram, Adele shared her nerves for the big day, including revealing she was eating only mashed potatoes as it was all she would be able to digest in time for the run.
‘It’s nearly real, it’s nearly time, we’re just getting the kit ready,’ she said as she showed off her supplies for Sunday’s marathon, including a t-shirt bearing the names Adele and Audrey.

Admitting she was ‘so nervous’ she felt ‘sick,’ her fiancee Kate Holderness came to the rescue with a gift to calm her fears and get her hyped for the massive task.
‘Kate’s got a surprise for me,’ Adele noted, before her partner suddenly opened a little box before the camera – and inside was a handmade little medal.
‘Cover Audrey’s eyes,’ Kate joked as she unwrapped it, saying the stoma wasn’t allowed to see it until she crossed the finish line.
As the little medal, complete with a pink ribbon and the number 2023, she gasped, ‘You didn’t.’

On the back bore the words: ‘We finished together.’
‘You gotta earn that Audrey,’ they joked, as Adele added: ‘She’s going wild. She likes it.’
The DJ recently appeared on ITV’s Lorraine, where she explained the late Dame Deborah James had helped inspire her.

She told the host: ‘I just wanted to do the marathon to reiterate what Dame Deborah said, Rebellious Hope.
‘It’s my way of standing up to the cancer and just saying, no more please, I’ve had enough.’
Talking about her stoma bag, she jokingly added: ‘My stoma Audrey, she’s a big fan of yours Lorraine, she was a bit excited this morning, but she’s behaving so far.’

As for hopefully breaking a world record, she went on: ‘When I was trying to find tips online on how to train with a stoma, I couldn’t really find much information, so I just thought I’ll just see if anybody has set a Guinness World Record and they haven’t.
‘So we’re going to go for it!’
