Adele joins James Corden for last ever Carpool Karaoke
Adele joined James Corden for his final Carpool Karaoke, a popular segment of The Late Late Show, of which Corden was the host for the past eight years. In his last week as host, Adele surprised Corden at his home in Los Angeles, clashing cymbals over his bed.
In the final Carpool Karaoke, the two discussed their friendship at length, shedding tears over his decision to return to the UK.
Adele recalled how Corden and his family has been “so integral in looking after me” and her son, Angelo, after her split from husband Simon Konecki in 2019. It was after a holiday the two families took together, Corden told Adele of his unhappiness. A few weeks later, Adele wrote the first verse of her hit song – I Drink Wine – based on her conversation with Corden.
Corden went on to say he’d miss his work friends, and Los Angeles in general but he felt it was time to return home.
“It’s been a brilliant adventure but I’m just so certain that it’s time for us as a family – with people getting older, people that we miss – it’s time to go home.”
“I know,” replied an emotional Adele. “I’m just not ready to come back yet otherwise I would come back with you.”
Adele’s Carpool Karaoke segment will also be broadcast on the show, with the final episode airing on Thursday.
