FOUR of the last six winners on the PGA Tour have triumphed for the first time and that sequence could be extended at the Valero Open in Texas on Sunday.
American Adam Schenk had a terrific opportunity to gain his first Tour victory at the Valspar Championship earlier this month when leading after 54 holes.
But he lipped out on the last on the final day, missing the chance to force a play-off as Taylor Moore lifted his maiden title.
Schenk has been stewing on that for the past fortnight and will be fired up to go one better when he hits his first drive on the Oaks course in San Antonio.
The 31-year-old from Indiana is obsessed with the sport. He grew up on the family farm which sells specialist grass to golf courses and named his golden retriever Bunker.
He possesses the game to avoid the traps and rough at the Valero and is our first each-way selection at 50/1 with William Hill.
England’s Matt Wallace is fresh from his first PGA success last week at Corales and should be followed at 33/1 with Coral while Chris Kirk can make it four top ten finishes here in his last seven visits – he also has a tied 13 in that stretch – at 22/1 with Ladbrokes.
