Adam Peaty wins GB’s first gold at Tokyo 2020
The Times says you could have set your alarm clock by it. At 3.12am UK time, Adam Peaty won Great Britain’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics to prove that there are some things we can rely on in a very uncertain world.
In winning the 100m breaststroke final, Peaty became the first British swimmer in history to retain an Olympic title but to call it predictable would be a massive disservice to this extraordinary athlete from Uttoxeter. Peaty is a phenomenon.
