AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek with the Chelsea star’s contract set to expire in 15 months time.
A product of the Blues’ academy, Loftus-Cheek made his Chelsea debut nearly a decade ago, yet apart from a brief spell under Maurizio Sarri the midfielder has failed to really establish himself in the first-team.
Injuries have more than played their part in this, though the England international has shown his qualities when given the chance, and impressed during his loan spells at Crystal Palace and Fulham.
While he has made 17 starts in all competitions this season, including in the 1-0 win over Leeds on Saturday, this has mainly been down to the many injuries Graham Potter’s side have suffered this season.
When all is said and done, Loftus-Cheek is firmly down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, behind the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante.
And with Todd Boehly looking to sell off any unwanted assets in the summer to trim down the bloated squad, Loftus-Cheek is likely to be one of the first out the exit door.
And the 27-year-old is not short of suitors from home and abroad, with CalcioMercato reporting that AC Milan are keen on acquiring his services when the transfer window reopens.

The Serie A giants have been monitoring the player for a while and have apparently been in talks with Chelsea since October when the two sides met in the Champions League group stage.
The Rossoneri are willing to pay around £22million for the midfielder whose contract with the Blues expires in the summer of 2024.
AC Milan have enjoyed recent success with buying from Chelsea, having signed Fikayo Tomori back in 2021 who was instrumental in the club winning Serie A in 2022, their first league title for 11 years.
Their title defence hasn’t gone to plan this campaign however, with Stefano Pioli’s side currently fourth in the table and 18 points off runaway leaders Napoli.
