A Scottish traveller, who visited NYC in 2022, said whilst they couldn’t see themselves living in NYC, if they did, they’d choose Greenwich Village.

As much as I loved NYC, I just couldn’t picture myself living there. Edinburgh is quite enough city for this country mouse! But if I did have to live anywhere, it would definitely be Greenwich Village, with all its beautiful old buildings and leafy streets.

Greenwich Village, SoHo or Chelsea Market – shopping

Not all SoHo shopping is akin to Malls. That would mainly be along Broadway. The side and parallel streets have more independent stores, and boutiques. Totokaelo, Opening Ceremony, APC, and the like will give you a NYC shopping experience you won’t find in malls of middle America.

In the West Village, the side streets along Bleecker heading westward towards Hudson are littered with lovely shops and restaurants. Have a glass of wine and some tramezzini at Sant Ambroeus.

Best thing to see/do in Greenwich Village

“My favorite thing to do in the Village is walk along Bleecker Street, starting at Bank St. and ending up at Cornelia St. (or vice versa). Wander on and off Bleecker at bit, too (e.g., Commerce Street is adorable, as is Cornelia). This stretch of Bleecker includes everything from cheese shops and bakeries to pottery and clothing stores,” advised New Yorker @Tracey3345

A recent visitor to Greenwich Village suggested a walking tour.

Took the walking tour by experience first. It was great! Our guide Steve is a native New Yorker and lives in the neighborhood. His knowledge and true life experiences made this tour most enjoyable.
