Get you up to speed: Alexandre Boulerice officially resigns as MP to run in Quebec election

Pierre Nantel has left the NDP caucus to sit as an independent MP in the House of Commons after announcing his plans to run in the provincial elections in Quebec. He represented the NDP for 15 years before this decision.

Boulerice served as a Member of Parliament for the New Democratic Party (NDP) for 15 years before leaving the caucus to become an independent. His decision to run provincially in Quebec has raised questions about the impact on NDP representation at the federal level.

Following his departure from the NDP caucus to pursue a provincial run in Quebec, Boulerice stated, “I believe it is time to take on new challenges.” The NDP will seek a candidate to fill Boulerice’s vacated seat in the House of Commons in the upcoming by-election.

What remains unclear — It is not yet known how Boulerice’s departure from the NDP will affect his current campaign in Quebec.
