Get you up to speed: Dramatic bodycam shows rescue of two boys seconds from drowning | News UK

Two boys, Subby, 10, and a 12-year-old, were rescued by a volunteer crew after becoming trapped beneath Blackpool Pier on May 28. They clung to the pier for around 40 minutes until the lifeboat crew reached them and took them to paramedics at the shore.

The volunteer lifeboat crew reached the boys within minutes and transported them to paramedics stationed at the shore. The incident occurred on May 28, amid concerns over rapidly rising tides, which left the boys clinging to the pier for approximately 40 minutes.

The RNLI quickly responded to the incident and successfully rescued the boys, with Zully expressing profound gratitude towards the volunteer crew, stating, “I can’t comprehend the fact they are just normal people with jobs… but they’d risk that to save my family.” Authorities may consider issuing warnings about the dangers of fast-rising tides at popular beach locations to prevent similar incidents in the future.

What remains unclear — The extent of any injuries sustained by the boys following their rescue has not been disclosed.

Two young boys who were just seconds away from drowning were pulled to safety after becoming trapped beneath Blackpool Pier.

Footage shows the children, Subby, 10, and another boy aged 12, clinging to the structure as the water rushed around them on May 28.

They had been on a family day out when they became stranded by the fast-rising tide and clung on for around 40 minutes.

Their mum Zully, from Leeds, had tried to wade out to reach the boys but was pushed back by the waves.

Her 21-year-old nephew, Ted, also tried to reach the pair and clung to the pier supports, but became stranded himself.

Zully said she was left watching as her son began disappearing under the water.

She said: ‘I knew he’d cling on if he could hear my voice telling him not to let go, but by now the water was rising fast and I could see him going under.

‘It didn’t feel real, it was like I was in some kind of helpless dream – a nightmare.

‘I could see my nephew hanging on, but I could see the fear in his eyes. I could see my boy submerged next to the poles of the pier.’

The volunteer crew were able to reach the boys in just a few minutes, and took them to paramedics waiting at the shore.

Zully said: ‘When I saw Subby coming in on that lifeboat and being carried away, it was like a miracle. I thought he’d gone. He survived because of these people who are volunteers.

‘God bless these people who came. I can’t comprehend the fact they are just normal people with jobs and their own family, but they’d risk that to save my family.

‘They don’t get enough credit for what they do. Nothing mattered to those people in that boat but saving lives and that’s incredible.’
