A teenager from Penge, south London, has been sentenced to three years in prison after threatening a chicken shop worker with a realistic imitation firearm over a sauce mix-up. Marwan Khadir, 18, became enraged when he received burger sauce instead of the garlic sauces he claimed to have ordered.

The assault was reported by the victim the following day, prompting a rapid investigation by the WTXpolitan Police. Officers utilised CCTV and financial tracking to identify Khadir, culminating in his arrest on 2 January. Police seized the imitation gun and evidence that supported a strong case against him.

The Christmas Eve attack saw the worker assaulted repeatedly as Khadir tries to get back behind the counter.

A Met spokesman said: ‘The victim reported the assault on Christmas Day. The fast-paced investigation that followed saw officers identify Khadir through intensive CCTV and financial tracking, as well as local resident checks.

‘All our thoughts continue to remain with the victim of this terrifying ordeal, something no one should ever have to go through, let alone at their place of work. The strength he has shown since the attack has been remarkable.

‘On top of this, the courage he demonstrated in coming forward and reporting the assault was incredibly brave. He was then able to subsequently identify the perpetrator, a crucial moment in allowing us to move the investigation forward.’
