Chelsea star branded ‘stupid’ and accused of being ‘non-league standard’ | Football

    TL;DR – Two-minute read

Chelsea conceded a late equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Burnley, with manager Liam Rosenior highlighting a lack of defensive discipline. Joao Pedro scored early for the Blues, but Zian Flemming’s injury-time header denied them victory. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez faced severe criticism for a costly error in the closing minutes of the match.

Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez was criticised for a ‘stupid’ error and described as of ‘non-league’ quality by Jamie O’Hara following the team’s 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday. After Joao Pedro scored early in the fourth minute, Chelsea failed to secure all three points, allowing Zian Flemming to equalise in injury time.

The Chelsea manager, Liam Rosenior, blamed an unnamed player for failing to defend properly during the corner that led to Flemming’s goal. However, O’Hara focused on Sanchez’s decision-making in the 85th minute, where the goalkeeper opted to kick the ball upfield rather than hold onto it, despite Pedro suffering from cramp. O’Hara said, “That ain’t about being young, that’s about being stupid!”

Rosenior remarked he is learning which players can be relied upon as Chelsea lost crucial points again, exacerbated by Wesley Fofana’s red card for a second booking. He stated, “We’ve set fire to four points from two home games. It’s not good enough for a club of this level for me to say we were the better team.”

Chelsea will need to address their defensive issues before their next fixture.
