National Rail said that disruption between London St Pancras International and Luton Airport Parkway is expected to last until 12pm.

Trains from St Pancras to Sheffield, and those heading towards Corby, are also impacted.

A signalling system fault at Stansted Airport has meanwhile hit CrossCountry services to Bristol Temple Meads, Birmingham New Street and Cambridge.

Greater Anglia trains to Norwich and London Liverpool Street, and the Stansted Express, are also impacted.

Those lines reopened at around 7.30am but delays are expected while services recover.

Thameslink has announced numerous service changes following the disruption.

Fewer lines than usual are open between West Hampstead Thameslink and St Albans City, amid delays of up to 45 minutes and numerous service changes and cancellations.

Numerous trains from East Grinstead to Bedford and London are also being cancelled.

East Midlands Railway customers likely to be affected by the St Pancras delays are advised to travel as planned.

East Midlands Railway has arranged for tickets to be used at no extra cost with Thameslink between London St Pancras International and Bedford, in both directions.

The railway firm is also running a shuttle service between Kettering and Corby in both directions.

Stansted Express travellers can use their train tickets on CentralConnect bus routes 305 and 333 from Bishops Stortford.

Advance purchase ticket holders can also travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
