Lorraine Kelly is among the celebrities supporting Davina McCall after the former Big Brother host revealed her breast cancer diagnosis.
In her original video, shared on Instagram this weekend, Davina explained that it was thanks to a Lorraine campaign that she even knew there was something wrong.
Davina, 58, underwent surgery in October after finding a lump, which she knew to check for after seeing an infographic on the ITV daytime show’s page for their Change+Check campaign.
Fortunately, the broadcasting icon’s lumpectomy was successful due to the cancer being detected ‘very, very early’.
She is now recovering ahead of ‘five days of radiotherapy in January’, which she described as ‘an insurance policy’ ahead of her journey to ‘try and stop it ever coming back’.
Taking to social media after Davina uploaded her video, the official Lorraine page wrote: ‘We’re sending all our love to Davina McCall, who has revealed today that she has undergone surgery for breast cancer.

‘Davina found her lump after seeing our Change+Check awareness sticker and thankfully caught the cancer before it had spread.’
‘As Davina says, remember to check your boobs regularly and “never ignore a niggle”,’ their post added.
Adding her own comment, Lorraine, 65, said: ‘I’m so glad Davina saw our Change+Check sticker and the cancer was caught early.
‘That’s the whole point of the campaign, to raise awareness and save lives.
‘I’m sending Davina all my love. She’s been through such a lot, and she’s such a terrific woman.’
Scottish presenter Lorraine announced the return of her Change+Check campaign earlier this year for the seventh year running. It aims to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, with informative leaflets and stickers being displayed in public and across socials.
Breast cancer symptoms
The first symptom of breast cancer that most women notice is a lump or an area of thickened tissue in their breast.
You should see a GP if you notice any of the following:
a new lump or area of thickened tissue in either breast that was not there before
a change in the size or shape of one or both breasts
a discharge of fluid from either of your nipples
a lump or swelling in either of your armpits
a change in the look or feel of your skin, such as puckering or dimpling, a rash or redness
a rash (like eczema), crusting, scaly or itchy skin or redness on or around your nipple
a change in the appearance of your nipple, such as becoming sunken into your breast

As well as Lorraine, stars including Amanda Holden, Dawn French, Mel B, Claudia Winkleman, and Fearne Cotton showered Davina with lovely messages after learning of her cancer.

Davina was also highly praised by various organisations, including Macmillan, who commented: ‘Thank you for sharing your cancer experience, it will help to raise awareness for others. We are glad to hear you are doing well, and sending you the best wishes ahead of your treatment in the new year. 💚’
‘It’s been a lot,’ Davina explained of her experiences over the last few weeks.
‘I was very angry when I found out, but I let go of that, and I feel in a much more positive place now.’
She added to her followers: ‘I think my message is: get checked if you’re worried, check yourself regularly.
‘If you are due a mammogram, then get it done. And I have dense breasts, and I had a mammogram in August, and I was postponing the ultrasound. I just couldn’t find time to do it. Don’t do that. Get the ultrasound.’
Davina only underwent surgery last year to remove a benign brain tumour, known as a colloid cyst.
It was found after she was offered a health check-up as part of her menopause advocacy work.
In April 2025, she confirmed that her brain tumour was ‘not coming back’ and she’d received the ‘all-clear’.
