Cliff Notes – Loose Women star Kaye Adams reveals ‘distress’ over BBC bullying probe

    • Kaye Adams has expressed distress over being suspended from her BBC Radio Scotland show amid allegations of bullying, claiming her reputation has been tarnished without any details provided by the BBC.
    • The investigation reportedly stems from concerns about an alleged shouting incident, with BBC staff being questioned about Adams’ conduct over the years.
    • Adams’ representatives have denied any prior complaints against her, emphasising her long-standing, issue-free career at BBC Radio Scotland.

Loose Women star Kaye Adams has claimed that her name has been ‘dragged through the mud’ during her BBC bullying probe.

Speaking for the first time since she was removed from her £155,000-a-year BBC Radio Scotland show, the 62-year-old said she has experienced ‘three of the most distressing weeks of my professional life’.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the presenter was suspended on allegations of bullying, including shouting and screaming at a junior member of staff.

Kaye, who also features on ITV’s Loose Women, has been hosting her three-hour radio phone-in on BBC Radio Scotland since 2010.

Now, however, she has broken her silence for the first time after her representatives strongly denied the allegation that any complaints ever came through about her.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, she said: ‘After three of the most distressing weeks of my professional life and seeing my previously untarnished name publicly dragged through the mud, BBC Scotland has still not provided me with any details of the allegations which have been made against me.’

Kaye added that she has been ‘inundated with messages of support from people who I have dealt with both personally and professionally over the decades and I thank them from the bottom of my heart’.

It comes after BBC chiefs reportedly decided to quiz staff about the presenter’s conduct ‘over a number of years’ as part of their ongoing probe.

The Mail on Sunday also revealed that the bullying investigation was launched following concerns raised over an alleged ‘shouting incident’.

The Loose Women star, 62, who has worked as a journalist for 40 years, has not permanently left the BBC but has been taken off air, according to the corporation.

The BBC Scotland press office previously told Metro: ‘We would not comment on individuals. If any complaints or concerns are raised we have robust internal processes in place to manage these.’

One ‘senior BBC source’ told The Mail on Sunday the TV star is not expected to host her morning radio show for a fortnight while internal investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Adams told the publication that ‘no complaints had been presented to her by the BBC’.

They added: ‘Further, she has worked for BBC Radio Scotland for more than 15 years and in that time has never had any issue raised about her.’

Adams presents ITV’s Loose Women, and freelances as a BBC presenter on top of her radio duties, hosting Mornings With Kaye Adams several days a week, which she’s not appeared on since October 6.

Metro has contacted the BBC and representatives for Kaye Adams for comment.
