Ricky Hatton transcended the sporting divide in Manchester between fans of the city’s two rival football clubs, Man City and Man Utd.
According to reports one big Utd fan is wearing a City shirt in Hatton’s honour.
He says: “There are a lot of Manchester City banners and scarves around. One guy up the road – a big Manchester United fan in every sense – is wearing a brand-new Manchester City shirt today.
“He bumped into Hatton on holiday recently and felt he had to be here, wearing that shirt.
“He’s clutching a bunch of bright blue flowers, hoping to shower them in the direction of the cortege.
“When a United fan is happy to wear a City shirt, you know you’re talking about someone truly special.”
