Graham Norton fans can’t get over Cillian Murphy’s reaction to Taylor Swift’s engagement ring
After Taylor Swift showed off her engagement ring on the Graham Norton show last night, fans are pointing out Cillian Murphy’s lacklustre reaction.
The global pop star, 34, is promoting her newest album, The Life of a Showgirl, which involved appearing on the popular BBC chatshow alongside a stacked sofa – Cillian, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Domhall Gleeson and musical guest Lewis Capaldi.
It’s been a big year for the Blank Space hitmaker as she not only launched her next music project but also got engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce after two years together at the end of August.
Now sporting a massive diamond ring, Graham took the opportunity to congratulate her on the happy news.
‘There’s a lot to congratulate Taylor Swift about, but the one I feel I ought to congratulate you about is your new bit of finger jewellery,’ Graham started, to which Taylor responded: ‘The hardware upgrade?’.
As the audience and fellow guests started applauding, Greta swooped in to inspect Taylor’s ring while Jodie showered her own praises. In the meantime, Cillian maintained a relatively stoic expression once his clapping petered off.

Although he did crack a smile when Taylor joked she ‘watches [the ring] like a TV’.
The Irish actor, who has previously made the internet rounds for his general disinterest in media chatter, ticked viewers at his nonchalant response to the engagement ring saga.
‘Peak Cillian energy (detached, polite, and absolutely done),’ amooremoondisiz wrote on X.
‘He tried so hard to react,’ bberrybeez shared with a crying emoji.

‘He is so uninterested,’ lilithhouse pointed out.
‘Cillian is zoned out,’ Gokuinblack echoed.
‘I’m crying… He doesn’t even want to be there. He’s so unintentionally funny,’ fvktakes shared.
‘He really is nonchalance final boss. The way he doesn’t have a closer peek when Taylor extends her hand. His body doesn’t even move,’ ari said.
Although some people think he had a good showing, with temsikdoos saying: ‘This is the first time I’ve ever seen this man show this much emotion I’m proud.’

At another point in the show, the pair had a sweet interaction after Graham reminded Cillian that his 90s band, The Sons of Mr Green Genes, got a five-album record deal, which they ultimately turned down.
‘We were kids and we got offered this record deal,’ he explained, looking at one of the biggest music artists in the world, before laughing: ‘I don’t know why I’m telling you this.’

As for Taylor, she discussed the origin of her cushion-cut diamond ring, customised by Travis, from New York jeweller Artifex Fine Jewellery on Heart Radio earlier this week.
‘I had shown him a video, I just thought her stuff was so cool… a year and a half ago- when I saw [the ring] I was like, “I know who made that” you listen to me! I didn’t know what I’d want, but he did,’ she recalled.
Her latest album dropped yesterday and has already received glowing reviews, including from Metro’s music expert Danni Scott.
‘While she’s not breaking the wheel, the album is emotional, honest, witty, brutal, and downright fun. This is exactly what I wanted from the queen pop,’ she wrote in her four and a half star review.
