Stephen Fry admits he broke a ‘promise’ by signing up for Celebrity Traitors

Stephen Fry has revealed that he broke a ‘career promise’ by agreeing to appear on Celebrity Traitors.

The comedian and actor, 68, will join the likes of Alan Carr and Charlotte Church in one of the most anticipated reality series in recent years.

The BBC One show will see a line-up of 19 famous faces go out of their comfort zone in the Scottish Highlands.

In July it was revealed that every celebrity will be receiving a £40,000 salary for taking part, which drew some criticism.

But asked about the upcoming series on the BBC’s The One Show, Stephen explained how he came about being on the show.

Joined by Reese Witherspoon, Karen Pittman and Billy Crudup on the sofa, alongside hosts Roman Kemp and Alex Jones, the Blackadder star said: ‘It was an extraordinary experience.

‘I always promised myself I would never be on a reality show, but I watched the game and I thought this is the most revealing thing I have ever seen about the human mind

‘It’s vulnerability, it’s fragility, it’s failure. Can we read people, can we deceive people?

‘It’s a very basic question from high politics to everyday life we ask ourselves and being in it was a genuine thrill.’
