Farmers take to the streets of Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire to continue demonstrations against PM Keir Starmer’s new inheritance tax laws.
The changes to inheritance tax were announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves as part of the budget in the autumn.
Hundreds of tractors swarmed the center of Hemel on Thursday, April. 10, as farmers protested the Labour Party’s upcoming changes to the inheritance tax for operational farms. Plans are in place to impose a 20% inheritance tax rate on operational farms worth more than roughly 1.2 million pounds by April 2026.
On Monday, 10th February, thousands of British farmers took to the streets of London and drove their tractors through central London to protest the Chancellor’s budget reforms.
The farmers who were driving tractors drove around the roundabout tooting their horns for hours as pedestrians watched and clapped. Whilsts motorists joined in by horning in their cars to support the cause.
