Cliff Notes – Man City 2-1 Bournemouth Game Analysis

    • Manchester City advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, thanks to a late winner from Omar Marmoush.
    • Erling Haaland had a penalty saved early in the match but later equalised before sustaining an ankle injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the game.
    • The introduction of 20-year-old Nico O’Reilly proved pivotal, as he assisted Haaland’s goal and set the stage for Marmoush’s decisive strike shortly after coming on.

Man City 2-1 Bournemouth (30 Mar, 2025) Game Analysis

Manchester City keep their trophy hopes for this season alive by coming from behind at Bournemouth to set up an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

Striker Omar Marmoush scored the winner as Manchester City came back from a goal down to beat Bournemouth 2-1 on Sunday to book their spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, with Erling Haaland having a penalty saved before netting the equaliser.

Haaland should have given the visitors the lead in the 14th minute but his effort from the spot was poor and Kepa Arrizabalaga saved comfortably. Bournemouth took a deserved lead seven minutes later when striker Evanilson bundled the ball over the line from close range.

City boss Pep Guardiola introduced 20-year-old Nico O’Reilly at the break and he quickly created the chance for Haaland to redeem himself, playing the ball across the face of goal for the Norway international to slam home at the far post in the 49th minute.

Shortly afterwards, Haaland suffered an ankle injury that effectively ended his afternoon. However, Marmoush scored just over two minutes after coming on to replace him to secure City’s spot in the last four of the competition, where they will meet Nottingham Forest on the weekend of April 26.
