Jack Whitehall was left red-faced after his parents made a shock appearance at the Brit Awards.
The comedian, 36, hosted the star-studded event for a fifth year last night, and kicked off the show with some cheeky quips at his fellow celebrities.
This year’s ceremony kicked off with a Squid Game-themed introduction featuring the likes of Richard Madeley and Sam Thompson before Sabrina Carpenter gave the first performance of the night.
‘What a way to start the show!’ Jack then praised.
He then seemingly made a gag related to the likes of Phillip Schofield, who resigned from the channel in 2023 after an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a much younger male colleague.
‘Yes, I’m back! ITV had so many of its presenters cancelled this year, they had to come crawling back to an ex,’ he said.
In typical Jack style, he then began by aiming at the celebrities surrounding him.
‘Five nominations for the lady who is not just a musician but a very strong Gmail password… Charli XCX,’ Jack laughed.
‘She’s done the most British thing I have ever heard of—asked not to perform on the show so she could get drunk! Legend!’
The camera then panned to Stormzy, who Jack called ‘the Grime scene’s Ronald McDonald’ in a dig at the Vossi Bop hitmaker’s controversial partnership with McDonald’s, which fans slammed him for as it faces calls for boycotts over connections to Israel.
Jack said: ‘In the 90s, you’d find your rappers doing drive-bys; this one you can find at the drive-thru.
‘Nominated for two Brit Awards this evening–we didn’t send him a limo tonight, we Deliverooed him here, it’s Stormzy.
‘The grime scene’s Ronald McDonald. He’s loving it.’
Not quite finished, he then moved on to roasting KSI, saying his ‘music is slightly past his prime’.
‘KSI judging talent, that’s like Stephen Hawking judging Strictly,’ he blasted, pointing out KSI’s new gig on Britain’s Got Talent.
One of Jack’s more controversial quips came later on, however, and attracted backlash online from viewers.
After Jade Thirlwall’s performance, he made a reference to a ‘white party,’ seemingly a nod to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Audiences were horrified, asking ‘what is wrong’ with the comic and reminding him: ‘It’s not 2013 anymore.’
But it was actually Jack who was left blushing later on in the show after his parents pulled a ‘Kanye West and Bianca Censori moment’.
TV producer Michael and actress Hilary were on the red carpet during Teddy Swims’ performance, with Jack joining them outside.
He wasn’t expecting them to turn up and follow in rapper Kanye and Bianca’s footsteps after the controversial US couple left everyone shocked at the Grammys last month.
Bianca, 30, had arrived in a fluffy black coat and threw it to the floor to reveal her fully nude body, in a totally sheer dress. Meanwhile, Ye, 47, was fully dressed in a black T-shirt and trousers.
Jokingly taking a leaf from their book, Hilary told Jack: ‘It worked for Kanye and his wife.’
‘Yeah, maybe Yeezy can pull that look off, but if he wears sunglasses indoors, he just looks blind,’ Jack pointed to his baffled father.
As he attempted to move on to the next segment, his mum then threatened to whip off her coat, just like Bianca had.
‘It’s too hot,’ she said, while Jack shuddered and warned: ‘Don’t you dare, Hilary!’
‘I’m never going to eat turkey again,’ he added, while Hilary quipped: ‘It’s nothing you’ve not seen before, Jack!’
Viewers, of course, loved the moment, with Natalia writing on X: ‘I can’t believe Jack Whitehall’s parents recreated the k@nye + wife Grammy incident.’
‘That bit with Jack & his parents was actually quite funny,’ Kaz said.
Richard echoed: ‘Jack’s parents are actually quite funny.’
Though this may not have been what Jack was expecting, he had earlier teased which celebrities he’d be taking aim at.
The Bad Education star has previously caused some of the most iconic (and chaotic) Brits moments and vowed this year could be the same, telling The Sun: ‘I know Sam Fender and Jade will be up for it.
‘They’re always up for a laugh and don’t take themselves too seriously.
‘Charli XCX is great too, and she’s the big story of the year. I’ll throw in some Brat jokes.’
