Yesterday, Romanian-British influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate left Romania and landed in Fort Lauderdale, in the US state of Florida, a spokesperson for the brothers, Mateea Petrescu, said. But Why did Tate brothers travel to the US?

At one point the two boys were considered the toxic property in social media, but seemed to have improved their prospects since January 2025.
The Tates have been accused of human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. Naturally, the Tate brothers have denied all wrongdoing and taken to social media protesting their innocence whilst showing off their perceived wealth.
The boys who lived in Luton, England have become social media celebrities, arguably becoming more famous and well known post the arrest, than before in Andrew’s professional kickboxing career.
Why did Romania lift restrictions on the Tates?
Romania’s G4Media.ro news portal cited airport sources as saying that the Tate brothers left Bucharest’s Baneasa airport on Thursday morning and departed for Florida in a private airplane.
Meanwhile, prosecutors confirmed that the brothers were no longer obliged to remain in Romania.
“The request to change the obligation of not leaving Romania was approved,” prosecutors said in a Thursday statement.
Prosecutors stressed that “all the other obligations have been maintained, including the requirement to check in with judicial authorities every time they are called.”
Prosecutors did not specify who had made the request for the lifting of the travel ban.
It is beyond doubt that Andrew Tate’s lucrative brand of assertive masculinity has earned him allies in President Trump’s administration. One of his former lawyers, Paul Ingrassia, now works in the White House, and it has been her influence which has opened this opportunity.
So why did Tate brothers travel to the US?

However, the London-based Finhttps://www.ft.com/content/52a17ca9-c253-4e92-852a-a8cb8592cb16ancial Times business daily reported that US officials had called the Romanian government and requested for restrictions on the pair be dropped.
The Tates have been vocal in their support of US President Donald Trump and it is rumoured that the Tate brothers are getting involved in raising the status of Far-right in Romania as well as getting involved in the minerals project in London.
The brothers don’t have the expertise to do this themselves but in his final term President Trump is rewarding all his allies with opportunities.
It is believed that President Trump is a fan of the influence the two men have on social media, especially over young men and are able to harness that loyalty amongst shared valued.
Last week, Romanian Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu said that US special envoy Richard Grenell had brought up the Tates’ case on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference earlier this month.
Romania faces far more pressing challenges than the fate of two foreign celebrities. Presidential elections have been rescheduled for May and a leading candidate – often accused of being a Kremlin puppet – has just been detained and is facing six criminal charges including fascism and undermining the constitutional order.
The Tate brothers have repeatedly voiced support for US President Donald Trump in social media posts and videos.
What are Andrew and Tristan Tate accused of?
The Tates were arrested near Bucharest in late 2022 along with two Romanian women. All four are accused of setting up a criminal organization in early 2021 in Romania and Britain that allegedly sexually exploited 34 women.
In August 2024, Romanian police raided several houses belonging to the brothers. In July, the Bucharest Court of Appeal overturned a ruling that allowed the Tate’s to travel freely within the European Union.
In a separate case, a UK court ruled in December of last year that British police may seize over 2 million pounds ($2.54 million, €2.42 million) from the Tates and a woman identified only as “J.” over tax evasion allegations.
UK police described the pair as “serial” tax evaders, and a video was submitted to court in which Andrew Tate could be heard saying “when I lived in England, I refused to pay tax.”
