One of the UK’s brightest comedic talents, Lucy Punch has finally been given her own show in the BBC’s Motherland spin-off.
In Amandaland, the 47-year-old returns as elitist mum Amanda as she navigates a new era post-divorce in a less well-heeled area of London.
As well as TV roles, Lucy is also a Hollywood star, having appeared in films like Hot Fuzz and Bad Teacher alongside Cameron Diaz.
But outside of her showbusiness career, the actor prefers to keep her family life with her husband in LA private.
Here is everything you need to know about Lucy Punch – including her former relationship with a Marvel actor.
Who has Lucy Punch dated?
Since becoming a professional actor in 1998 on TV show The New Adventures of Robin Hood, Lucy has kept her private life out of the public eye.
The only known relationship she has been in – bar her current husband – was with fellow actor James D’Arcy, 49.
Lucy dated the Avengers actor for around three years after meeting while filming TV movie Come Together.
James is best known for playing Edwin Jarvis in Marvel series Agent Carter and for starring in Christopher Nolan films Dunkirk and Oppenheimer.
Who is Lucy Punch’s husband?
Lucy is married – but she has kept the identity of her husband a secret and they have never been pictured in public together.
In an interview with The Independent, writer Hannah Ewens said she had a ‘mystery’ husband and noted that she was ‘very private.’
Does she have any children?
Lucy has two sons aged seven and three but has never publicly revealed their names.
In a rare comment about her children, she told The Independent how she managed to keep them entertained as the wildfires ravaged LA near her home.
When they returned after being evacuated, Lucy said one of her sons had believed they had been on holiday as she had managed to deflect their attention away from the fires.
‘Meanwhile, we’d been looking at our phones, going “help” and crying, the Vexed actor said.
‘It’s such a small window when you’re a kid, so I’m just trying to make it magical until they’re confronted with teenagerdom and the reality of life.’
What TV shows and movies has Lucy starred in?
After training at the National Youth Theatre, Lucy dropped out of University College London to pursue acting full-time.
She was soon cast in TV shows including Let Them Eat Cake alongside French and Saunders before playing receptionist Elaine Denham in Doc Martin.
In 2006, Lucy won the best actress award at Monaco International Film Festival for Are You Ready for Love? before being cast in Woody Allen film You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger.
In a recent interview, she said her ‘good experience’ working on the film had been ‘tainted.’
‘There are plenty of [personal regrets] that I don’t want to actually resurrect and talk about. My list of failures? I did a film with Woody Allen, a very long time ago, and I’d been out of work for a long time before I got that,’ she told The Independent.
‘That really changed my life, getting that job, because I was ready to pack it all in. It’s difficult to say that now because of all the stuff that’s happened around him since then.
Filmmaker Allen has faced sexual abuse allegations over the years, including being accused of abusing his adopted daughter Dylan when she was as young as seven. The Annie Hall director has denied the claims.
Lucy’s other film credits include Hot Fuzz, Bad Teacher and Ella Enchanted, while on TV she has starred in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Amandaland airs tonight on BBC One and iPlayer from 9pm.
