Claire Butler, a senior university lecturer on nursing, was found dying from injuries in the Plymouth street close to her new apartment. Ms Butler was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead several hours later. Her next of kin have been informed.

Paul Antony Butler, 53, who was known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He was a known thug and a member of Reform UK. He was her ex-husband. Women in Plymouth feel failed by the police and report a surge in UK crimes of passions.
The police force spokesman said: “Paul Antony Butler, 53, who was wanted in connection to the death of a woman in Plymouth has been located and arrested.
Her family said in a statement, through the police: “We are absolutely devastated and broken at the loss of our beautiful caring mother Claire Chick.
“She was the most beautiful lively soul and was there for everyone. Everyone who knew our mum had so much positive words to say about her. She was the life and soul of any place where she was.
“She loved to dance and sing, even though she was pretty bad at it; she had no shame in doing it in front of any audience. We will never get over this as a family, she was our glue and our go-to. We won’t ever get the justice our mum deserves for this, because no amount of justice will bring her back.”
Failed by the police force
Devon & Cornwall Police have referred themselves to the watchdog because of previous contact with the victim. Who had tried to seek police support in the past.
She clearly needed help and was failed by the police force. It is unclear how many times she contacted the police, but the Devon & Cornwall Police failed to act on all the complaints.
Paul Antony Butler was located and arrested in Liskeard, Cornwall, around 20 miles from Plymouth, and is now in police custody

Tributes have been paid to Claire Butler on social media and by her former colleagues after she was brutally killed in Plymouth street attack by a Farage supporter.
Vice-chancellor Professor Richard Davies said: “We have been shocked and saddened by the death of a much-loved member of our university community.
“Having spoken with Claire’s colleagues, I know that her contribution to Plymouth was significant and deeply felt – she was a respected nurse, lecturer, and personal tutor, ensuring students were supported academically and pastorally.
