Iconic 80s bombshell known for racy roles looks totally ageless in rare sighting
80s bombshell icon Kelly Lynch was recently spotted in a rare sighting looking almost unrecognisable – though as stunning as ever.
The 65-year-old actress, who made her big-screen debut alongside Tom Cruise in Cocktail (1988), struck a casual figure in black leggings and coat.
Her long blonde hair was a staple of her image in the 80s, but she seems to be keeping things incognito these days with reddish auburn locks that are just as striking.
Fans may also remember her for the part she played opposite Patrick Swayze in Road House (1989), when she became on overnight sex symbol for her role as the sultry but down to earth Doctor Elizabeth.
She also earned an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for her role as a drug addict in Drugstore Cowboy also in 1989.
She nearly flew to even greater height, turning down the lead role of Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct in 1992, a part that eventually went to Sharon Stone who would become known for the part of the mysterious femme fatale.
She told People in 2017 that her part in Road House was not something she earned on her acting merits, but because of her sex appeal.
‘It was one of those parts that models get because my audition was [wearing] various bikinis,’ she said.
‘To do your first two films with Patrick Swayze and Tom Cruise, who are both — were, in Patrick’s case — really amazing sweet and kind, guys, I loved working with both of them,’ she added.
‘They were really, really fun.’
She has often called her role in Drugstore Cowboy, directed by Gus Van Sant, her favorite performance.
‘Really complicated characters where the humor is dark — that’s when I’m in heaven,’ she explained.
As for passing on Basic Instinct, she said, ‘As interesting and titillating as I thought that movie was, with a kid you just make different decisions. But I don’t regret a bit of that.’
