UK economy sees modest growth for first time in three months

For the first time in three months, the UK economy grew, recording a slight expansion of 0.1% in November, according to official figures. This follows two consecutive months of economic contraction.

The modest growth offers a positive signal for the government amid recent challenges in financial markets. Turbulence had pushed borrowing costs to their highest levels in years and caused a sharp drop in the value of the pound.

The news aligns with Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ commitment to accelerate efforts to improve economic growth and enhance living standards. Reeves has promised to take bold steps to ensure sustained progress.

The Office for National Statistics highlighted that the services sector was the primary driver of November’s growth. Pubs, restaurants, and IT businesses performed particularly well, contributing to the slight uptick in economic activity.
