The Traitors poll reveals ‘unsurprising’ fact about Conservative voters
If there’s one thing we know about The Traitors, it’s that those who ‘murder’ the Faithfuls on Claudia Winkleman’s iconic gameshow have to succeed in manipulating, scheming and betraying their competitors.
Body language expert Judi James previously told Metro that to be a good Traitor, a person would have to be a strong liar, while psychologist Dr. Louise Goddard-Crawley said ‘Machiavellian traits’ including the ability to be cunning, strategic, and willing to throw people under the bus, should be adopted by Traitors.
And it’s now been revealed that fans who would want to be the next Harry Clark, or think they could team up with current Traitors Minah Shannon and Linda Rands, would also likely be Tory voters.
A More in Common poll has shown the voting habits of Traitors fans, and some are calling the results ‘unsurprising’.
The poll reveals viewers who would rather be a Faithful would give Labour a 14 point lead, while those who would opt to be chosen as Traitors would give the Conservative party a 12 point lead.
Reform UK also wins 18% of the votes by wannabe Traitors, while the Lib Dems scored 16% from the Faithfuls.
Explaining what this means on their The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, Richard Osman said: ‘It’s like sport, The Traitors. Every series is different, but there’s always stuff going on.

‘But More In Common polled Traitors viewers, and they asked them their voting intentions, but they split it into people who would rather be a Traitor and people who would rather be Faithful.’
He went on: ‘If the General Election were tomorrow, and the only people allowed to vote were people who would want to be a Faithful if they were on The Traitors, we have a Labour landslide, we have a 13-point victory for the Labour Party.
‘If however, the General Election was only people who would rather be a Traitor, we have a Tory landslide.’
While co-host Marina Hyde insisted that those wishing to vote Labour didn’t understand that ‘the strongest position in the game’ was to be a Traitor, Richard continued: ‘That is a huge swing between people who would rather be a Faithful on The Traitors and people who would rather be a Traitor. An absolutely huge, statistically significant thing.’
‘But isn’t that amazing? So Faithfuls, huge Labour lead, Traitors, huge Tory lead,’ he concluded.
Fans have been left pretty unsurprised by it all, with many pointing out the similarities between those who play the game as Traitors, and Tories.
‘*Pretends to be shocked*,’ @kaye_86 wrote on Instagram after the poll was shared by Politics Joe.
@londonpalimpsest said: ‘Yep. The dog-eat-dog instinct at the heart of conservativism.’
‘No surprise there,’ @davidhassell agreed, while @abneerravenwood3 commented: ‘Wow I was genuinely blown away by this revelation not.’
@osbornewithoutu wrote: ‘Not a surprise. Also the reform increase in the traitor camp, fairly predictable.’
Voting intentions aside, several viewers have been left debating whether they’d rather be a Faithful or a Traitor, after a nail-biting season one finale saw Traitor Wilfred Webster make it to the end of the show only to lose to three Faithfuls.
Meanwhile in this season so far, Traitor Armani Gouveia was voted out early on in the game, but so were several Faithfuls (who also lost out by being ‘murdered’), leaving Linda and Minah past the halfway mark.
Claudia herself previously admitted she’d ‘prefer to be a Faithful’, but would have ‘no idea if someone is lying to me’.
She also said her strategy as a Traitor would be to ‘say nothing’ but acknowledged she’d ‘mess it up within three minutes’.
The Traitors returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Wednesday at 9pm.
