Former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos has asked the Supreme Court to postpone his voluntary declaration scheduled for next December 12 in the call Koldo casesince you need more time to study the summary.
In a letter, Ábalos’ defense explains that he accessed the entire case this Thursday “around 2:00 p.m.” and needs time to “take due account” of the “extensive volume of the case.”
The lawyer explains that this Tuesday he tried to access the summary electronically, but that he could not consult the file through this procedure. For this reason, a representative of the defense went to the Supreme Court this Thursday to provide a flash drive and copy the complete performances.
The letter states that, “given the extent of the case,” it is “clearly impossible to carry out a study of it” so that the former minister can declare on December 12 “with all the guarantees for the exercise of his defense”.
At the same time, Ábalos’s defense requests that the new appearance not be set for the December 19since that day the lawyer has a trial scheduled.
The Supreme Court announced on November 7 that it would investigate Ábalos in the Koldo casewhich led the former minister to appear in the case on November 12 and request a transfer of the proceedings.
The High Court issued an order on December 2 in which the former minister was named and his voluntary appearance was set for December 12, a date that the investigated party now requests to modify.
