Irish police seek public’s help in identifying 99 people from Dublin riots 

Irish police, known as Gardaí, have released CCTV images of 99 individuals they want to question about riots that broke out in Dublin nearly a year ago. The unrest followed the stabbing of three children and a school care assistant outside a primary school on November 23, 2023.  

The riots caused significant damage, with 28 vehicles, including public transport, destroyed by fire, and 66 businesses damaged. Thirteen officers were injured during the violence, which continued from late afternoon until midnight. Gardaí are appealing for the public’s help to identify the “persons of interest” seen in the city center that day.  

Chief Superintendent Patrick McMenamin stressed the importance of holding everyone involved accountable and urged those who recognize themselves in the images to contact the investigation team. The appeal comes after investigators reviewed over 17,000 hours of CCTV footage, with public interest temporarily overloading the Gardaí website hosting the images.  

To date, 57 people have been arrested in connection with the riots, with 53 charged and 14 convicted of public order offences. A dedicated team of over 50 officers continues to investigate the events surrounding the violence. Meanwhile, the man accused of the initial stabbing remains in custody, awaiting trial on attempted murder charges.
