Plan for station displays showing passengers how services are working
If you have ever been caught in train delays, the uncertainty can be frustrating.
But soon passengers could be able to check how services are working on a live departure-style board at stations.
It comes after the Transport Secretary Louise Haigh said the move will help ‘to hold us to account’ after inheriting a railway that was ‘failing its passengers.’
While she said there are ‘early signs’ of improvement across operators such as LNER, Northern Rail and TransPennine Express, Haigh added that it will ‘take time to pass all the benefits on to passengers.’
She criticised the previous government, accusing it of allowing service cancellations to reach a ’10-year high.’
The government continues with the move to bring back train operations under public ownership.
The Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill is expected to pass through the Parliament in the coming weeks.
It means a public sector train operator could be appointed to run services as the default option rather than a last resort.

How long will issues last on the Elizabeth line, GWR and Heathrow Express?
If you’re travelling to and from Heathrow Airport, you might want to consider using alternative services after major disruption on the route.
