At least 40 dead as Israeli strikes eastern Lebanon
At least 40 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in eastern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The strikes targeted areas in the Baalbek and Bekaa regions, which Israeli officials say were aimed at Hezbollah operatives.
The attacks also caused significant damage, with one strike destroying part of an Ottoman-era building near the Roman ruins in Baalbek, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In southern Beirut, Israel said they targeted Hezbollah command centres and weapons storage, following evacuation warnings issued by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Meanwhile, a Hezbollah rocket launched from Lebanon killed an Israeli man near a kibbutz in northern Israel.
