New footage released as police offer £20,000 reward to catch gunman | UK News

New footage has been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with an unsolved murder four years ago.

The Met Police is also offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the gunman who murdered Jason Diallo.

The 30-year-old was cycling along Balfour Road in Ilford in November 2020 when he was knocked off his bike by a car and then shot in the head.

Today, Scotland Yard released a clip of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the father-of-two’s death and the wounding of another man who was shot 15 minutes later around five miles away.

‘We have continued our momentum behind this investigation to ensure that those responsible for killing Jason Diallo and seriously injuring another man are held accountable,’ Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, the senior investigating officer, said.

‘We are now in a position to release an image of this man, who we would like to speak with in connection with this ongoing investigation.

‘If you know who he is or have any information which could help us, please get in contact.’

Two men – Mushin Mohamed, 28, and Tyrelle Joseph, 24 – received 35 years and seven years in prison at the Old Bailey in 2022 for their roles in the shootings.

But an investigation by the Met’s Specialist Crime North believes there are two more suspects – including the gunman – believed to be involved who are yet to be caught.

Det Ch Insp Allen said there was no evidence to suggest that either victim was ‘known to one another or those convicted, suggesting that this was a completely unprovoked and violent incident’.

Mr Diallo was shot around 10pm on November 1 and died at the scene after despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

The other victim – Marcus Codrington – was shot at around 10.30pm in the shoulder in in Garvary Road, Canning Town.

He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds and told officers he had been followed by three men driving a car who began shooting at him.

Mohamed was later found guilty of murder and attempted murder and sentenced to life in prison to serve a minimum of 35 years.

Joseph was found guilty of assisting an offender and jailed for seven years after being identified as someone who had helped Mohamed and the unidentified suspects leave the scene.

Speaking after the sentencing in 2022, Mr Jason’s Diallo wife, who did not wish to be named, said the night her husband died will haunt her forever.

She added: ‘Jason was a devoted father to our two children, the youngest only weeks old when Jason was murdered.

‘They will forever suffer the consequences of the individuals who took their father’s life.

‘He was his mum’s only son and a loving brother to his younger sister, who are deeply affected and miss him terribly everyday.

‘For these individuals to kill a totally innocent stranger, who they did not know, in such a brutal, cowardly manner is beyond comprehension and although no sentence will ease our pain, it brings some comfort to know they will be spending many years of their lives behind bars.’
