James May confirms his show has been cancelled after three seasons

James May has revealed a show he ‘wasn’t so keen’ on filming has been cancelled by Amazon Prime.

The TV presenter is best known for fronting Top Gear and The Grand Tour but also travelled around the world in the series James May: Our Man In…

The documentary series first aired in 2020 and ran for three seasons.

It followed James, 61, as he travelled a country and underwent various local activities.

In the first he went to Japan, followed by Italy and India, with the latter airing in January this year.

However, the presenter has now confirmed the series is over, saying the streaming service ‘didn’t want’ to commission any more seasons.

‘Well, Our Man In… is actually finished, they don’t want any more of that, so I won’t be doing that. But that does take you away from home for a long time, which I wasn’t so keen on these days anyway,’ he said.

‘I think the thing that appeals to me in these sort of more mature years of my life is arts and craft really, I want to make things, play musical instruments, and look at paintings.

‘So, anything that involves that I’m very up for, and it may be a bit more of this [show, James May and the Dull Men],’ he added when speaking to YahooUK!

He went on to say that his new series, which sees him coming up with creative gadgets and items we may not realise we need, might be ‘ramped up’ if it proves a hit.

However, when speaking about his travel show ending, he also said: ‘Well, they just didn’t want it anymore, miserable b*****ds’.

Last month the final episode of The Grand Tour was released, marking the end of James’ most recent show alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.

However, Jeremy, 64, admitted he was ‘mostly smashed’ during filming.

Speaking at a Q&A following a premiere screening of The Grand Tour: One For The Road, Jeremy said he and his co-stars were ‘mostly smashed’ during filming but ‘hopefully nobody will notice’.

He also claimed that a third of a cargo plane was filled with beer, instead of camera equipment.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Amazon Prime Video for comment.

James May: Our Man In… is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. James May and The Dull Men is launching on Quest on Tuesday, November 5 at 9pm and will be available to stream on Discovery Plus.
