Israel still blocking humanitarian aid to north Gaza, Unrwa says
The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has accused Israel of continuing to block humanitarian missions from delivering essential supplies like food and medicine to northern Gaza. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lazzarini highlighted that hospitals in the region have been hit and are without power, leaving injured civilians without medical care.
Lazzarini also described the dire conditions in UNRWA shelters, which are so overcrowded that displaced people are being forced to live in bathrooms. He cited reports that some civilians attempting to flee the conflict were being killed.
Israel has been intensifying its offensive in northern Gaza, targeting what it says are Hamas fighters regrouping in the area. However, residents and medics reported that hospitals and shelters for displaced people have come under siege. Despite these reports, the Israeli military claims it is facilitating civilian evacuations and ensuring hospitals remain operational while targeting terrorist infrastructure.
Medics at the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza told Reuters that Israeli forces stormed a nearby school, detained men, and set the building on fire. Palestinian media also reported that Israeli artillery strikes killed at least 10 people at a school-turned-shelter in Jabalia refugee camp, a densely populated area north of Gaza City.
