The ongoing crisis in the Middle East is one of the stories trending in the UK as tanks mass at the Israel-Lebanon border and a ground invasion appears imminent.
Israel is continuing to attack Lebanon and Gaza – whilst yesterday opening up a new war front after striking Yemen.
The story is featured heavily on the broadsheets – and dominates the online space. Many editors are reporting that the region appears to be on the brink of an all-out war as Israel continues to ignore calls from its closest ally – the United States – to pull back and show restraint.

The reaction
The UK publications report that the latest from the Middle East is an escalation on Israel’s part – that almost certainly means Israel won’t now back down from taking the war into a new phase.
Other media outlets report on the Israeli tanks – and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu being warned by the US, that a ground invasion means displaced Israelis will not be able to return to their homes.
Online much of the discourse is around the deaths of civilians in the Middle East – as whilst the attention may be on Lebanon and Yemen, Gaza is still being heavily attacked.
