    We’ve picked out the week’s best TV shows/ movies on terrestrial TV this week as well as the best shows to watch on streaming services.

    What to watch on TV this week 23/09 

    Monday 

    Nightsleeper (BBC ONE, 9 PM)

    Nightsleeper – The BBC One drama making all the headlines continues tonight with time running out for the passengers on the train. The hackers have sent the train hurtling towards death and destruction and a group of strangers are tasked with stopping it. But the group are turning on each other already. A classic BBC thriller. 

    Tuesday 

    Batman Season 1 (Talking Pictures TV, 7.05 PM) 

    Part one of Two. The dynamic duo match wits with a female magician, who robs the same bank on the same day every year. 

    Wednesday 

    Ludwig (BBC ONE, 9 PM) 

    When his identical twin goes missing, puzzle setter John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor assumes his identity as Detective James Taylor in the Cambridge police authority in the hopes of finding clues to his brother’s whereabouts. John must infiltrate the Major Investigations Team to gather information and ends up investigating a completely unconnected murder whilst remaining in character as his brother. Comedy drama starring David Mitchell, with Anna Maxwell Martin. 

    Thursday 

    Who killed Jon Benet (Channel 5, 10 PM) 

    More than 25 years after her murder, mystery still surrounds the infamous case of JonBenet Ramsey, who was killed inside her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado in the early morning hours just after Christmas. This documentary explores the unsolved crime with family cooperation from John Ramsey, JonBenet’s father who, after finally being cleared as a suspect, continues to push the Boulder Police Department to re-test and make available key pieces of physical evidence that may hold the answers to the killer’s identity. Crime Documentary. 

    Friday 

    World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys (Channel 5, 7 PM) 

    A journey from the Mexican border at San Diego, following the Californian coast north to the city of San Luis Obispo, aboard the aptly named Pacific Surfliner. Pulled by a gleaming Siemens Charger locomotive, the rake of five double-deck coaches takes viewers on a 350-mile trip. Narrated by Bill Nighy. Nature documentary. 

    Saturday 

    Strictly Come Dancing (BBC ONE, 6.15 PM)

    Paddles at the ready as the couples take to the floor to perform their second routines – and this week things are getting serious for the celebrities as they know that one of them will be voted out in tomorrow night’s results show. Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly keep things ticking over, while Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke give their thoughts on the dances. Reality TV.

    Sunday 

    Joan (ITV1, 9 PM) 

    In 1985, young Kent mother Joan O’Connell is trapped in a catastrophic relationship with criminal Gary Darvil, but she flees after he brings danger to their door and takes drastic action to keep her six-year-old daughter Kelly safe. Attempting to build a new life, Joan begins working in her sister’s salon and gets a job at a jewellery store, where one impetuous action then changes her life. Fact-based crime drama about jewel thief Joan Hannington, starring Sophie Turner. 

    What to watch this week on streaming? 

    BBC iPlayer – Nightsleepeer. Catch up on all the episodes of the BBC thriller. 

    Amazon Prime  – A very Royal scandal. A three-part drama about the infamous Emily Maitlis interview with Prince Andrew. 

    Now – The Princess. Twenty-five years after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, director Ed Perkins reflects on the life of the “people’s princess” in a feature-length documentary.

    The Women’s Football Show (BBC ONE, 11.30 PM Sunday)

    The English Football League highlights (ITV 1, 12 AM, Saturday)

    To watch the Premier League, English football League you will need a subscription to NOW TV, TNT, Amazon Prime.
