The Metropolitan Police has issued a reason why Sir Mark Rowley grabbed a journalist’s microphone and threw it on the floor as he stormed out of a Cobra meeting.
As the Commissioner left the urgently called briefing, he was asked a question about two-tier policing, but Sir Mark grabbed a Sky journalist’s microphone and dropped it to the ground before walking off, expressionless, while other members of the press followed him.
Sir Mark had been summoned to meet with Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, in response to the unruly rioting overtaking some towns and cities across Britain.
Keely Hodgkinson wins 800m gold as Team GB climb Olympics medal table
Keely Hodgkinson has clinched Team GB’s 12th gold medal of the Paris Olympics after winning the 800 metres on Monday evening. The 22-year-old won silver at the Tokyo Games three years ago and was the overwhelming favourite to win the 800m this year.
She raced away in the closing stages to cruise to victory as she clocked a time of 1:56.72 minutes.
The silver medal went to Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma, who ran a personal best time, with Kenya’s Mary Moraa taking the bronze.
