The FT – Trump handed legal victory as judge dismisses classified documents case
The Financial Times says former president Donald Trump has received a boost to his campaign after a judge dismissed a criminal case brought against him over his handling of classified documents following his presidency. The paper says Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, ruled that the appointment of Jack Smith, a lawyer brought in by the Department of Justice to investigate the issue, was unconstitutional.
Elsewhere, a report on Goldman Sachs profits more than doubled in the second quarter.
